Great surprise!

October 19, 2008

Wow! My memory flew so far right now when I listened the song “sing for you”, especially because the singer’s voice. When I listened to that voice, I was certain that I knew it, but I couldn’t remember its owner.

You can see the lyric here.

However, when I read this text about the singer and her career I suddenly searched for some more information, so I found the video below.

I remember when I was a teenager and I listened so much to that song titled “fast car”. Now I know that the voice of “sing for you” belongs to the same owner of “fast car”, I mean, she is Tracy Chapman. It was good to listen to her again… do you remember her? Hope you enjoy it!

Sing the song with the lyric here.

See you!!!

Potatoes!!!!!

October 10, 2008

One of the common things I firstly learned in English was the types of potatoes that I could eat, so I learned the definitions of “potato chips” and “French fries”. Remember those?

However, when I was reading the blog “Inglês na Ponta da Língua” I just realized that I had never asked myself about those potatoes we usually use on a beef stroganoff dish in Brazil. Now I know that kind of potato is called shoestring potato.

Have you ever though about that? :)

Actually, I never use these kinds of potatoes when I prepare beef stroganoff at home, just mashed potato.

MASHED POTATO

I do that because my husband doesn’t like shoestring potato and prefer mashed potato instead of that in all dishes I prepare… maybe he isn’t a creative gourmet…ahahahaha.

Funny computer problem story:

I was having trouble with my computer.  So I called Richard, the 11
year old next door whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked
him to come over.

Richard clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem.

As he was walking away, I called after him, ‘So, what was wrong?  He
replied, ‘It was an ID ten T error.’
I didn’t want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, ‘An, ID ten
T error?  What’s that?  In case I need to fix it again.’

Richard grinned. ‘Haven’t you ever heard of an  ID ten T error before?’

‘No,’ I replied.

‘Write it down,’ he said, ‘and I think you’ll figure it out.’

So I wrote down:       I D 1 0 T

I used to like the little shit.
